Homing season gets off to a start

TEN members of Todmorden Homing Society sent 168 birds to Wollaston for the first race of the new season.

Liberated into a light north east wind in cold conditions, it was always going to be tough for the first outing.

First to clock a pigeon was Kevin Thorp, his bird flying 87 miles to Lydgate in one hour 47 minutes, just five minutes in front of the second bird, also to Kevin’s loft, with Mr and Mrs B. Fisher taking third.

Next week’s race is from Worcester.
