Todmorden U7s Tigers 3

The much anticipated game between the Wasps and Tigers was won by the better team on the day.

Lenny Sorrell opened the scoring for the Tigers, a well struck long range shot finding the net.

Both teams found chances hard to come by as Ciaran Bourne for Tigers and Barney Mellor for Wasps were playing well in defence.

Max Duffy broke free occasionally but found Noah Priestley in goal hard to beat and the score stayed 1-0 at half-time.

The second half started with the Wasps once again thwarted by Lennie Sorrell who had taken over from Noah Priestley in goal.

For Tigers Thomas England had two good long range efforts.

As the Wasps pushed for an equaliser they were caught out by the Tigers’ Ashley Thomas.

He controlled the ball well and drilled a left foot shot into the bottom corner.

With the last kick of the match he added a third as Wasps were caught out of position trying to get a consolation goal.

When the boys get older they will form one team.

Elland Juniors 1

Allstars kept their unbeaten record intact, with their best display of 2011 against a stronge Elland side.

Allstars fast attractive football was evident from the start.

They pressed Elland back with strong running from Latham, Ashworth and Marlor.

Saints’ first goal was not long in coming, Ashworth’s shot leaving the keeper no chance.

Their goal came from a corner with Gledhill firing home.

Elland then scored from a free kick with Lucas Newsome in Saints goal powerless to stop it.

In the second half Brooke was brought into defence for the tiring Mather.

Saints added a third with a long range free kick from Latham which left the Elland keeper rooted to the spot and Ashworth got his second after a mazey run and a fine finish.

Marlor got on the scoresheet after a defence splitting pass from Gledhill.

He then turned provider holding off the defender and rolling the ball back to Latham to rhit his second.

Saints last goal was a team effort involving Brooke, Gledhill, Latham, Ashworth and Marlor, who volleyed home.

Saints next game is in the quarter finals of the cup away to Northowram Juniors.

Crossley Juniors U9s 2

Todmorden Borough Blacks U9s 6

Todmorden Borough notched up another away victory with an all round team performance.

The first goal came from a clearance from defence by Jack Jacques to Jordan Glover who crossed to Noah Hudson who hit it home.

A Crossley’s equaliser soon followed and Nicholas Shaw was forced into a fine save.

Hudson passed to Callum Issitt down the right and he smash home his first of three goals.

Hudson got Borough’s third and then put Issitt through to make it 4 - 1 at half time.

In the second half Glover sent Jack Jacques into space with time to hit the fifth.

A quick counter-attack caughtn out Borough for Crossley’s second goal.

The final score came when Shaw took a long goal kick to Jacques, who found Issitt with space and with time to ensure his hat trick.

It was great team performance by Borough with man of the match awarded to Noah Hudson.
