Juniors catch well on cold evening for anglers

TODMORDEN Angling Society’s fourth junior match of the season was fished at Croft Head Fishery, Littleborough, by eight junior members.

All except two caught something on what was a cold evening.

Result - U12: 1, Taylor Varley (peg 7), 7lb 1oz, ide caught in shallow water with maggot on pole. U16: 1, Ashleigh Blakey (peg 21), 7lb 1oz carp plus other fish using pole and caster; 2, Jack Riley )peg 18), 3lb 4oz, carp and ide.

On Friday, May 25, the next match is at Ramsden Wood with the draw up to 5.45pm and fishing from 6.15pm to 8.15pm. Remember to book on.

The society’s next trophy match is at Croft Head Fishery on Sunday, June 3 - members only. Ring to book on to enter.

Any member having bought this year’s membership card must attach a photograph on the rear back cover - failure to do this means the licence is not valid.

Thirteen anglers fished the trophy match at Town House in cool, dry weather.

Result: 1, John Mellor, 33lb 13oz including carp, caught on pole-fished luncheon meat from peg 22; 2, Simon Newsham, 18lb 8oz, including four carp, caught using pole and meat from peg 6; 3, Pete Mottram, 16lb 4oz, including three carp, caught using pole and corn.
