Ladies enjoy golf open despite the wind and rain

DESPITE the showery and windy weather, visitors from Hebden Bridge, Rishton, Colne, Bacup, Rochdale, Burnley, Brookdale, Fairfield and Doncaster enjoyed a great day’s golf at the annual Todmorden Golf Club Ladies Open. The winners were Hebden Bridge Golf Club members Lorraine Boulton and Barbara Leeming with 43 points.

Second were Christine Potter and Frances Tighe, also from Hebden Bridge, with 41 points and third were Julia White, of Todmorden Golf Club and Sharon Brown, of Bacup Golf Club, with 40 points.

Irene Muldowney, of Todmorden won nearest the pin on the 10th hole (second shot) and Julia White, of Todmorden, nearest the pin on the 16th.

There were only two twos - by E. Bonn and Sharon Brown.

Todmorden Lady Captain Dinah Kenworthy said that the course and the greens were in superb condition and thanked everyone for entering.

She also thanked the members who had organised the competition and helped on the day, as well as the club captain and the ground officer who had acted as ball spotters.
