Archery: Western Tournament is challenge

White Rose Archers held the annual Long Western Tournament on Sunday.

This is shot at 80 yards and 60 yards with four dozen arrows at each distance. It is also handicapped. The juniors shoot a Junior Western 40 yards and 30 yards with the same number of arrows.

Results - Ladies, Eric Mills Trophy: 1, Julie-Anne Thomas; 2, Sheila Hudson.

Gents - Bill Wade Sheild: 1, Keith Shooter, 2, Richard Bentley; 3, Nigel Smethurst.

Juniors: 1, Amy Smethurst; 2, Alex Thomas; 3, Ben Fitton.

Best golds senior, Richard Hudson; junior, Alex Thomas.

Worst white senior, Grayde Bowen; junior, Amy Smethurst.

Club records broken: Ben Fitton junior boy under 14; Amy Smethurst junior girl under 12

Ben Fitton has gained his junior Bowman badge; Amy Smethurst junior third class badge; George Seaborne junior third class badge.

Joe Scoles shot his first third class score. Three rounds have to be shot with certain scores to achieve the classification badge.
