Cricket: A weekend of woe for Walsden

IT was a weekend of woe for Walsden.

They crashed to defeat at Norden from a seemingly winning position and then struggled to bowl out Oldham the day after.

They did the hard work at Norden getting the home side all out for 169, with Mark Hooson in his first game this season for the first team recording excellent figues of six for 59 in 19 overs.

Then they made a fine start in reply reaching 102 for one with James Rawlinson knocking a fine 57 and Duminda Perera weighing in with 37.

But that's where it all went wrong as Walsden collapsed to 137 all out with Norden professional Mark Price getting eight for 42.

The next day at home to Oldham they managed 157 thanks mainly to a fine innings of 79 by Ashley Sbrizzirri.

Then in reply the visitors registered 158 for the loss of only four wickets.

- IT was a similar story for the sec onds at home to Norden.

The visitors made a respectable total of 187 all out, but in reply, just like the first team Walsden collapsed, only registering 58 all out. Joe Gale was top scorer with 17.

He was also the top scorer next day at Oldham, but it was a different story.

He hit 69 in Walsden's total of 146 all out.

But then the bowlers put Oldham to the sword with Mark Halstead in particular registering a splendid haul of six for 38.
