Cricket: Nelson sink 20/20 hopes

IN what has been a good season generally, Todmorden's 20/20 form has been disappointing to say the least.

On Friday they wrapped up their qualifying campaign with an eight wicket defeat at the hands of Nelson – their third loss from four games.

Only Ben Sutcliffe, 32, and Nick Barker, 23, really made an impression as home professional Robin Peterson took 4 for 7.

Todmorden were dismissed for 90 in the 18th over but their hopes were briefly raised when Stevie Barker bowled opener Stuart Lemon in the first over of the reply.

Nelson have won all their games in the competition and Neil Thompson, 37no, and Peterson, bowled by Jayasinghe for 39, meant that this one was a formality, victory coming off the second ball of the 16th over.
