Cricket: Record weekend spoiled by defeats
WHILE records were broken it was another weekend of woe for Walsden. Away to Milnrow there were several good performances with the bat as well as record breaker James Rawlinson.
He scored 47 of Walsden's total of 193 all out against the team which won the Wood Cup at Walsden's Scott Street ground earlier in the summer.
Rawlinson was well supported by Sri Lankan professional Duminda Perera, who scored 45 and 14-year-old Joe Gale who showed his potential with a fine knock of 43.
The home side, however proved far stronger with bat reaching 194 for the loss of three wickets, two of them going to Mark Halstead.
On Sunday it was even worse for Walsden as they crashed to 69 all out with J.Hammond (23) and Ashley Sbizzirri (23) top scoring.
Clifton professional Puckert took seven for 37 and then hit an unbeaten 30 as the visitors cruised to 70 for the loss on just one wicket.
The second team game on Saturday was rained off, and Sunday they were well beaten by Clifton.
They scored 140 all out thanks to a fine 80 not out from Jake Hooson.
Clifton reach 141 for two, D.Howley getting both wickets for only nine runs.
