Football: Great start for Sunday teams
It was a great start for Todmorden's teams in the Rochdale Sunday Football League.
Woodhouse Utd kicked-off their Division Two status with a 3 - 2 win at home to Mark Twain Nomads.
After missing early chances, a Gary Fish header from the edge of the box lobbed the keeper and gave them the lead.
The visitors hit back with two goals against the run of play, but Joe Whitham's shot was fumbled by the keeper to equalise.
Josh Thompson came on in the second half and turned the tide as the visitors could not live with his pace.
When he was brought down in the box Marc Walters stepped up to score the penalty and give the home men the game.
In Divison Three newly formed Royal George came away with a 6 - 4 win at Falconers in an exciting game.
It saw two penalties for George and a man sent off for the home side.
The visitors were on top for much of the match after taking an early lead.
It was a special day for George celebrating their first win after going through last season under the Wellington banner without a win.
There were four goals for Johnny Sutcliffe and two for Jordan Walker.
