Football: Super Syke sink battling House boys

Jack's House 1 Syke 5 Rochdale Online Alliance Division one

HOUSE produced a competitive performance against the runaway league leaders in the only local game to survive the freeze last weekend.

Walsden Rec was firm but playable for the visit of a side which had won 18-0 the previous week.

Both sides were keen to play and produced a competitive and even first 20 minutes.

Syke then showed why they have been so successful as they pounced on a couple of minor errors from the home side and showed lethal finishing to take a 4-0 lead into the interval.

Man of the match Jamie Bull and Adam Causton battled hard after the interval as did central defender and captain Wes Wallace.

Goalkeeper Pete Goldsmith produced some fine saves as House continued to play well.

Alan Took got their goal, scoring direct from a corner with a cross which swung into the top corner of the goal.
