Football: Top class performance

IT wasn't just on the field that schoolboy footballers from Todmorden excelled.

Shovels and spades were needed to clear the pitches at North Bridge Leisure Centre before play could get underway in the Post 16 five-a-side competition, featuring teams from ten local schools and colleges.

Todmorden High School were the overall winners, beating Ryburn 3-0 in the final.

Earlier they had beaten Holy Trinity 2-1 in the semi-final, qualifying after winning a group section which included Brooksbank Sports College, Calderdale College, North Halifax Grammar and Rastrick.
