Golf: Good scores in mixed open

The mixed open was held on Sunday at Todmorden Golf Club and despite the weather there were some very good scores.

Rick Lupton and Louie Hollows got a birdie as did Terry Makin and Irena Brown

Nearest the pin on the seventh hole went to Liz Coverdale.

Pauline Stafford and Les Woodhead won nearest the pin in two on the 10th hole

It took a card play-off on the back nine to sort out the three winningg teams

In third place with 62, 32 on the back nine were Irene Muldowney and captain Michael Parenti.

In second place place with 31 and a half, were Linda Bell and Jonathan Miles, who is visiting from the USA.

He plays off one handicap and is the son of David Miles and grandson of Bob Miles both well know in the area for their trumpet playing in the local bands.

First place went to Heather Slater and Jeremy Shirt both of Burnley Golf Club with a 62 and back nine of 28.
