Golf: Irene beats the weather to win

It was a day of two seasons last Thursday when the women of Todmorden golf club played for the club captain, Micheal Parenti's prize.

The morning players had sunny weather, but from 5pm the rain came for the evening players.

This did not stop Irene Muldowney getting 41 Stableford points, as winner.

She will now play off a new handicap of 14.

Louie Hollows also played in the rain coming second with 35 points.

In third place was Gill Neely with 34 points. She also won nearest the pin on the 16th hole.

Louie Hollows had birdies on the 14th and 15 th holes and Julia White had one on the first hole.

Cynthia Murray got her first ever birdie, on the fifth hole

The captain thanked the ladies for their support and help over the season.

The winner of the August medal was Linda Bell and Irene Lumb was the winner of the nine-hole competition.
