Netball: Kath at centre of all things Rangers

KATHRYN Dempsey was a dominating figure as Rangers beat Windies 17-7 in the Todmorden Netball League.

Her passing in centre court meant that the Rangers shooters were kept supplied with quality ball.

It was tough on Windies who had spent all day trying to raise a full team. in the end they managed to get six players on court, all of whom performed superbly.

However, a very good Rangers side did make the player advantage pay as the evening wore on.

Robins won first centre and led 4-2 at the half-time mark in their game with Jammy Dodgers.

A switch in the Jammies defence at half-time turned the game on its head and their shooter stole the show with a fine display as they ran out 18-7 winners.

An outstanding opening quarter saw Jumpin Kacks build up an early lead against Lions.

Lions never stopped working inn a fast-paced game which featured a lot of collisions.

Panthers had no game this week.

Traffic problems meant that Thundercats had only four players available at the scheduled starting time against Terriers.

As a result the game was played as a friendly with Terriers winning 20-0 with both sides taking the opportunity to test players in unaccustomed roles.

Results from January 19: Windies 19, Lions 8; Rangers 14, Robins 3; Dodgers 15, Panthers 10; Jack's 9, Thundercats 8; Terriers no game.
