Pigeons: Venue change makes for great race

TEN Todmorden Homing Society members had 277 birds at Kempsey last Saturday.

The birds were liberated late afternoon into a light south west wind.

The pigeons should have been at Cheltenham but the race controller thought there was a better chance of a good race from the shorter race point. It proved to be a good decision and seemed to suit last week's winner from the same venue as it came in right on time and won again.

The bird, now called Kempsey Cock flew 109 miles to the loft of Denise and Ryan Cullinane in Halifax Road with Brian and Sandra Fisher taking second from Phil Williams in third. Next week's race is from Swainswick.

Result: 1, Cullinane and Son, 1666.61; 2, Mr and Mrs Fisher, 1655.99; 3, P. Williams, 1655.81; 4, Mr and Mrs Fisher, 1655.75; 5, P. Williams, 1655.33; 6, Mr and Mrs Fisher, 1655.05; 7, P. Williams, 1653.88; 8, L. Brennan, 1651.22; 9, Cullinane and Son, 1651.18; 10, Cullinane and Son, 1650.24.
