Quiz league: Trio were still in with chance of lifting crown

TODMORDEN Quiz League's 2009-2010 league title was set to go any one of three ways last night, following a set of results last week that also set out a pecking order.

Hare and Hounds B must be favourites, going into the final game level on points with reigning champions Jack's House but with a 24-point lead where aggregate scores are concerned.

Hounds won the top-of-the-table head-to-head with Con Club last week, but Club aren't totally out of it yet. Last night they would, however, have had to rely on both Hounds B and Jack's House losing.

For their part, Jack's would have to beat Hounds A and hope Hounds B lost or amass a 25-point better score than Hounds B.

After last week's outstanding win Cornholme's workmen slumped to a convincing defeat at the hands of Hounds A.

At home to Bird, Shannon fell behind in the first half and were nine points behind at the halfway stage. They came within two points, but a poor round on Britain gave them a deficit which proved too much to pull back and Bird logged a welcome victory.

Tod's cricketers lagged behind for most of the match against Jack's House and ended up as losers which reinforced Jack's challenge for top league honours.

Results

Cornholme WMC 51, Hare and Hounds A 70; Shannon 58, Bird 69; Jack's House 71, Todmorden CC 62; Hare and Hounds B 72, Con Club 58.
