Tod win is no surprise
second division leaders Todmorden A visited Hebden Bridge Chess Club at the Trades Club, Holme Street, on Monday for a match against the home club’s D team.
The visitors were at full strength, with a formidable line-up, and the result, a 4-1 win to Todmorden B, was no surprise.
The one bright spot for Hebden Bridge D’s young team was the continuing good form of their 17-year-old first board player, Robert Murray, who played a very sound game leading to a spectacular queen sacrifice in the endgame.
