Woodhouse going great, despite ‘scratch’ nature of side
WOODHOUSE got off to a great start with a goal in the first minute.
Manager Simon Randles had to go in goals as he had struggled to get together a side.
“I can’t understand why we should have to have a scratch side when we are going for promotion,” he said.
But it was he who started the goal with a clearance to Marc Walters, who passed it on to Joe Whitham to hammer it into the net.
The home side came back however and equalised with a header from a cross. Things got worse when a wind-assisted long range effort sailed over Randles to give the home side the lead.
Within five minutes Woodhouse had levelled. Callum Hallahan chipped the keeper from 20 yards and the ball hit the bar and dropped over the line.
The visitors took the lead shortly before the break when Darren Preece rose to head in from a Gary Fish corner.Woodhouse were on top for most of the second half, but could only score once more.
Hallahan was brought down in the penalty area and calmly slotted in the resulting spot kick.
Woodhouse now lie second in the table on goal difference.
