Marrow takes winter golf title

Paul Marrow clinched the winter league title at Todmorden Golf Club.

He had been leading the league for several weeks and was a member of the winning team on the last day.

Second was Matt Saxon, third Warren Duckworth, fourth Russell Waring and fifth Paul Gale.

Individual winners on the final day, when 26 golfers took part, were Alan Stobbs with 37 points from Warren Duckworth after a card countback.

The winning team was Marrow, Saxon and Duckworth.

Rabbit captain Russell Waring thanked John Stobbs and Mark Pattison for organising the league and Alan Payne for inspecting the course at 7.30am every Sunday to determine if play was possible.

After the final match a dinner was held at the clubhouse.

A four-ball better ball competition was played at the club on Saturday.

Simon Hemmington and Fred Stutter won with a net 61, a clear four shots in front of Glen Duckworth and Dave Rushton on 65.

There were no twos, so the prize money rolls over to next week’s three-man Texas Scramble competition.
