Captain takes honours by narrowest of margins

Todmorden Golf Club’s annual match play team contest between sides representing the Captain and the President wassurprisingly poorly attended, especially given that it was such a beautiful day.

The overall score was 13-13 but Captain Alan Dickinson claimed the win on the number of holes up against John Fowler’s side.

Nearest the pins: 7th, Paul Lukasyck and Peter Bailey; 16th, Gary Fisher and Trevor Barnes.

Parallel Sunday competition: 1, M Bonny 67 nett; 2, Allan Stobbs 68 nett; 3, Chris Redmond 70 nett.

Todmorden won 5-3 at Dewsbury last Friday in the Lawrence Batley Seniors League.

Meanwhile, Todmorden’s star pair Dave Stafford and Michael Murray were in a very disappointing Halifax-Huddersfield Union side crushed 27-9 by Leeds at Sandmoor GC on Sunday.

The pair failed to pick up a point although Stafford lost his singles match by just 1 hole.
