The final of the Dearden Trophy, a team knockout competition organised annually by the Todmorden and District Bowling League, was an all-Catholic Club affair at Todmorden Park on Sunday.

And the B team were narrow winners over the A team.

In the semi-finals, Catholic Club A had beaten Hollins and the Catholic Club B had knocked out Walsden B.

Mytholmroyd BC have won the Halifax League veterans title for a seventh time in 10 years.

Maurice Ormerod’s side needed just one winner in their final match away to Albion to end the challenge of Greetland.

The match was played at Rastrick - a green unfamiliar to the Mytholmroyd players - with Albion unable to use their own green. However, any nerves evaporated when Wendel Adams was an early winner.

Mytholmroyd went on to post a 6-2 success, a result matched by Greetland at home to Sowerby WE, to leave ‘Royd champs by eight points.
