Crook heads strong Maver showing in angling test

ALAN Crook headed a top four from the Maver NW team when he won Todmorden Angling Society’s open match on the Rochdale Canal at Castleton, which was fished by 16 anglers in wet weather.

All four of the top placed anglers caught roach on pole-fished bread punch.

Result: 1, Alan Crook, 3lb 12oz; 2, Dave Bradley, 3lb 2oz; 3, Roger Priestley, 2lb 15oz; 4, Steve Ashworth, 2lb 10oz.

Membership of Todmorden AS is now available from local tackle shops and there is no increase on last year’s subs. Anglers are not allowed to fish any of the society’s waters in 2011 until their new ticket is bought, said secretary Ray Barber - 2010 cards expired on New Year’s Eve.

Day tickets are available in advance from tackle shops for Cliviger Ponds and Grove Lodge at £5.

No junior day tickets are issued - but it is only £5 for junior (up to 16th birthday) membership.
