Roger’s cold comfort

Roger Priestley won last Sunday’s pairs match run by Todmorden Angling Society on the Lorry Park,Rigg’s and Castleton sections of the Rochdale canal.

Twenty two anglers took part in very cold weather with ice having to be broken to allow fishing.

Result: 1, Roger Priestley (Maver N-W) 2lb 3.5 oz punched bread at 5 metres; 2, Tom Brownbill (Maver N-W) 1lb 11oz as above; 3, Paul Cryer (Maver) 1lb 9.5oz punched bread; 4, Jan McGovern 1lb punch.

Members are reminded that no fishing is allowed on any of Todmorden’s waters in 2013 until subscriptions are paid.

The planned ‘behind the scenes’ tour of lock 44 at Sladen Mill, Littleborough last Sunday, organised by the canal and river trust, was cancelled owing to the poor weather.
