Todmorden have three more chances to get in some action before the start of their Lancashire League campaign, two of them coming this weekend.

There was no play at home to Cheadle CC last Saturday but Andrew Sutcliffe’s men are due to host Rochdale on Saturday and Mytholmroyd on Sunday with 1pm starts.

Sutcliffe said: “Over the weekend we are hoping that 14 or 15 players can get a run out.”

With Centre Vale wet at the start of the week, the captain is hoping for some good weather between now and the opener at home to Colne on Sunday week.

Tod’s final friendly is against Walsden on Saturday week.

At least a couple of former Tod players could face their former club this weekend - ex-skipper John Henderson for Central Lancashire League side Rochdale and Simon Wheelwright for Halifax League outfit Mytholmroyd.

‘Royd could also field newcomers Jacob Travis and Tennyson Joseph.

Todmorden’s junior signing on night is on Thursday, April 17 from 7.30pm.

The club will be running teams at under nine, 11, 13 and 15 level and players and their families are encouraged to come down with their families to pay their subs and meet the team managers.

Any junior who is interested in playing, no matter what their experience, is welcome.

Junior practice nights start on Wednesday, April 23. (6.15pm to 7.45pm).
