BRIDGEHOLME Cricket Club has made special acknowledgement to the work of one of its stalwarts.

When the Towergate Halifax League Division Two club had a bye in its league programme a special presentation took place.

It was made to recognise the hard work put in over many years by Peter Brennend, a former winner of the Todmorden News award for services to sport.

On the bye day the club had a ground work day that was very well attended.

The event was chosen to unveil a brand new bench placed in a corner of the ground that has for many years been know as “Peter’s Corner”.

A simple ceremony took place to present to Peter the bench that club members thought was a fitting way to show their appreciation for all his hard work.

Peter and another Bridgeholme stalwart, opening batsman Keith Hudson, became the club’s groundsmen on the same day back in 1985.

“He has been cutting the outfield and keeping the club’s surrounding in trim for over 24 years before his retirement as groundsman last year,” said Keith, who made the presentation to him.
