LACK of a consistent team was once again the undoing of Todmorden Borough’s second string, who went down 8-0 at Lostock St Gerards.
Manager Craig Milnes struggled to find enough players after losing some to the first team.
In the end he mustered 12 players, six of whom were making their debuts for Borough.
It meant a lack of cohesion against one of the division’s top clubs and the game was lost before Borough could get it together.
It was all over by half-time when the home side had put six past debutant goalkeeper Andrew Micklethwaite.
Despite that he was named as man of the match for a string of fine saves to prevent even more goals.
Borough were not without their chances however in the first half and Terry Lowe came nearest with a fierce shot that hit the post.
Manager Milnes was delighted with the spirit shown by all his players, who only conceded two more goals in the second half.
The last of these came when the side, after already using their substitute was recuded to nine men through injury.
On Saturday Borough Reserves have a home Houston Cup tie against Tempest United from the Division above.
