THE race for the 2010-11 Todmorden Quiz League title looks set to go down to the wire.
League leaders Hare and Hounds B, of Old Town, and Todmorden’s Polished Knob were neck and neck going into last night’s fixtures, after which there is just one round left to play - those postponed because of the weather on December 1 which will now end the season on April 13.
Hounds B stayed at the top of the league with a convincing win against Royal George, while Polished Knob recovered in style at Todmorden CC.
The cricketers were well ahead at half way but a sketchy knowledge of comestibles and Transylvanian darts players allowed Polished Knob back in the second half.
Elsewhere Bridge End’s captain returned from India to help his team to a good win over Weavers and Jack’s House logged the night’s highest score with a demolition job on unfortunate Bird@Queen. Cornholme’s workmen stormed into an early lead at home but Woodpecker pulled back round by round and ended up easy winners.
Hare and Hounds A were level with Shannon just past half way but a disastrous sport round where they failed to score gave the visitors victory.
Results: Bridge End 62, Weavers 56; Todmorden CC 66, Polished Knob 73; Hare and Hounds A 55, Shannon 70; Royal George 44, Hare and Hounds B 72; Bird@Queen 63, Jack’s House 82; Cornholme WMC 53, Woodpecker 67.
