TODMORDEN Borough ended their season in style to finish in sixth place in the league.
The 2 - 1 victory was a fitting end to a fairly successful season.
They started it well and finished well but lost their way with the long winter lay-off.
“Otherwise we would have finished in the top three,” said manager John Gilford.
But at least his side finished in the top half of the table and gained the club’s first silverware with a league cup win.
In their final game Borough dominated their opponents throughout and made it only one defeat in their last seven matches.
They controlled the first 25 minutes and scored when a Dave Patrick shot hit the bar and Nathan Adams headed in the rebound.
The visitors got the ball in the net almost on the break, but it was disallowed.
Borough dominated the second period and after 70 minutes Terry Lowe side-footed in a Chris Kay cross.
Bolton County grabbed a consolation near the end.
Now Borough’s attention will focus on next season and a search for more players.
