THE September Medal at Todmorden Golf Club was won by Andy Barker with a net 65 on a card playoff from Sean McClernon.

The Open Stroke winner last Sunday was Michael Murray with a gross 68, net 66.

The Summer League finished with “Indian Summer” weather with Rod Hunt the victor, followed in second by Clive Cook.

The first tiger and rabbit in each Monthly Medal this year played in the Gold Medal Final on Saturday in glorious weather, with excellent scores being recorded.

The winner with a superb score of 62 was Neil Chrimes The supporting Open Stroke was won by Christian Godfrey with a creditable net 65, just pipping Chris Redmond who had a 67. The nearest the pin prizes were scooped by Phil Ellis on the 5th and John Lukasyzc on the 16th.

Matthew Saxon and Lee Dearden showed what the spirit of the game should be by delaying their Midweek Pairs Final against Steve Shone and John Stobbs.

Steve badly injured his foot in last week’s Fred Hirst Final and the match should have been played the day after.

However, a week is a long time in golf as Steve and John won the match three and two, with Steve paying credit to their opponents sportsmanship in the presentation afterwards.

l ALTHOUGH Gareth Evans, of Crow Nest Park Golf Club, Brighouse, scored an excellent 61 at Todmorden last week in the Halifax and Huddersfield Winter Golf Alliance it is not an official course record.

It has been ruled out as it was recorded in a four ball better ball competition and not an individual one. Also the competition was played off “preferred lies”.
