THREE wins in a row and Royal George are starting to believe in themselves.

Manager Colin Gibson was “chuffed to bits” with his team after this latest victory and thinks they may at last have turned the corner.

Midfielder Daz Rhodes was their hero with a goal (pictured) fashioned by his midfield partner Kyle Fisher.

He rose to meet Fisher free kick and put it in the net after 28 minutes.

The visitors put them under pressure for much of the game. But George’s Johnny Sutcliffe and Connor Fowler were causing problems and both went close in the first half. Just before the break the visitors’ keeper spilled the ball but just managed to regather it at the feet of Fowler.

Blue Ball came out strongly in the second half and George had to withstand real pressure.

On one occasion only a fine last ditch tackle by Joe Connor prevented a goal. If he had mistimed the challenge it would have been a penalty.

In the last 20 minutes, Fowler and Sutcliffe had chances at the end.

A delighted Gibson said: “The lads played very well against a big physical side.

“Hopefully we can move forward from this. It’s given them belief.”
