TODMORDEN’S winning run goes on - “and we’ll all be working hard to see it continues.”

That was the message from skipper Andrew Sutcliffe after another successful weekend for the Centre Vale men.

He was full of praise too for professional Qaiser Abbas, who had another successful series of matches.

He described him as “a brilliant professional. He is leading the way with his performances.

“And he is a good guy around the club and in the dressing room he gets on with all the lads,” he said.

Abbas has scored 375 league runs, average 68, and taken 43 wickets at an average of 12.

In the Twenty/20 success he was especially pleased with the variety of the Todmorden bowling attack.

Of the win at East Lancs, which put them top Sutcliffe said: “Qaiser was very difficult to face on this track.

“He bowled excellently and Danny Brown was very impressive behind the sticks.

“We were in a tricky position at nine for three but the middle order came together to chase down the total in the last couple of overs.

“Danny Brown and Oliver Wood were the men who saw us home in the end to give us a great team win that sent us top,” said Sutcliffe.
