Title sealed, now U13s set sights on double

AN 18th consecutive victory secured Todmorden Sports Centre u13s the league title with several games still left to play.

Crossley Juniors came closer than any other team this season to stealing a point from Todmorden, holding on to a 2-2 scoreline until the final 15 minutes.

Playing uphill at Crossley’s notorious Heathy Lane pitch, the visitors raced into an early lead with goals from Benjamin Pearson and Sam Foster.

Crossley attacked well and pulled a goal back before equalising from the penalty spot close to half-time.

Conor Shapland was outstanding at centre back while Christopher Reeder and Jack Pearson worked hard in midfield.

Although the home side had much of the possession Todmorden were more efficient in front of goal.

Benjamin Pearson scored two more to secure the vital win and, in the process, notched up his 10th hat trick of the season.

Thomas Stansfield was superb in goal, making a fantastic save before the end.

A goal at that point may have inspired a late rally by a battling Crossley side.

The league title now secure, Todmorden are aiming for the double with a cup final appearance booked in Halifax at The Shay against Boothtown in a few weeks.
