Todmorden and district netball latest

WINDIES started strongly with fast passing and took an early lead against Lions in the latest series of games in the Todmorden Netball League.

Lions fought back, but Windies had the lead at half-time and went on to win 16 - 11.

Lions played better in the second hal with some good passing but could not make up the deficit.

Jammys were a player short and lost their first match of the season 22 - 14 to Panthers.

Twisters and Bears started were evenly matched, but Twisters dominated the second half with good shooting from their GA, Bears GS was on form too in a good game, which Twisters won 11 - 9.

Rangers beat Giants 14 - 11 in a fast game with some fantastic interceptions by their new WD.

There was no game for Terriers.

Two teams were unable to raise enough players to complete their fixtures in the previous round of games.

Terriers could not raise a team to play Twisters, who received the points as a 20 - 0 win.

It was the same for Jammys against Borough Bears, who were also awarded a 20 - 0 win.

With weeks off due to problems with the sports centre floor everyone was glad to get back to playing.

A shortened half of the court made for some errors but as always it was a good game with end to end action between Panthers and Windies.

Panthers though, just had the edge and won 15 - 11.

Giants were slow to start and the the shortened half of the court made it strange.

They got their game together in the second half and worked the circle well at both ends.

There was excellent shooting from both teams in the early part of the game. Both teams were evenly matched leading to a tight finish with Giants finally snatching it at the end.
