IT’S two wins in a row for Walsden who have made a flying start to their Central Lancashire League season.

After comprehensively thrashing Ashton last week they followed it up with another victory, this time over Oldham at Scott Street.

Walsden made a fine total of 214 for eight with Kris Halstead top scoring on 54, well supported by Matthew Dawson with 33, Elliott Gilford, 34, and Josh Hanson 31.

In reply Oldham were all out for 129 with stand-in professional Will Purser ripping through the innings to return a brilliant eight for for 43 in 14 overs. Martin Harlow claimed the other two wickets.

The experienced Purser has proved an outstanding replacement, standing in for the first two weeks of the season for Sri Lankan pro Duminda Perera.

WALSDEN seconds had a fine win at Oldham. They skittled the home side out for 112 with James Driver and Josh Barnes doing the most damage with three wickets each.

In reply Walsden rattled off 114 with the loss of just four wickets. Mark Hooson (34) and Stuart Hanson (35 no) did most of the damage with the bat.
