Walsden well beaten at Rochdale

WALSDEN were well beaten at Rochdale in the Central Lancashire League as the home side won with 10 overs to spare.

The visitors hit a competitive 204 for four, with top scorer, professional Duminda Perera unbeaten on 91. Opener Matthew Dawson made 31.

In reply Rochdale sub-professional, South African Greg Smith, did the most damage with 101 as they cantered to 205 for five.

Doug Waghorn was the pick of the Walsden bowlers, taking three for 51.

l WALSDEN seconds warmed up for their Burton Cup final with a win at home to Rochdale.

The visitors scored 131 all out off 44 overs with Mark Halstead and Josh Gale getting three wickets each.

Rain meant Walsden’s target was reduced to 125 off 40 overs and they made it with almost seven overs to spare reaching 126 for four.

Gale got 30 and Kris Garland top scored with 33.
