THERE was Wood Cup disappointment for Walsden as they lost in the semi-final for the second year running.
They were without professional Duminda Perera, who was suffering with a recurrence of a hamstring injury.
Standing in for the cup game at Royton was South African Gulam Dodi, but he could do little to stop the flow of runs from the home side, for whom professional Jamie How hit 120 off 109 balls.
Elliott Gilford was the pick of the Walsden bowlers with three for 47.
The visitors never looked comfortable in reply although opener Jake Hooson got 34 and Aussie Doug Waghorn hit 25. But they could only manage an all out total of 110 and lost by a thumping 136 runs.
It was a much better story in the Central Lancashire League match the day before when Walsden beat Clifton by 61 runs.
Joe Hanson top scored for the visitors with 46 in their total of 164 all out. He was well supported by Kris Halstead (32) and stand-in Peter Connell who hit 27.
The New Zealander then took four for 45, with Jamie Shackleton getting three for 23 and Waghorn two for 27 as the home side were skittled for 103.
