The artist was delighted with the response his work, saying ‘It’s always great to be back in Hebden Bridge because people know and appreciate my paintings’.

John works mainly with acrylics to create colourful and exciting paintings that can capture the mood and atmosphere of a place.

As gallery owner Phil Withersby put it: “His beautiful forest paintings have a quiet serenity whilst by contrast his seascapes capture the power and movement of the sea. He manages to create wonderful textures by using a variety of materials and by using his own distinctive techniques to apply the paint.”

Co-owner of the Calder Gallery Sue Allinson added ‘We are thrilled to be having his work on display here again.”

You can see John Connolly’s new work on show until May 4 - more info on www.caldergallery.co.uk
