Lost houses project is brought to book by Kate

In January, after two years of work, artist Kate Lycett opened her '˜Lost Houses of the South Pennines' exhibition at Bankfield Museum in Halifax.

It included 14 new paintings of 10 beautiful lost houses. Since then Kate has been putting together her first book book with the help of her father Stephen which brings together her artwork and experiences.

Tonight between 6pm and 8pm Heart Gallery in Hebden Bridge will host the launch of the book.

“I’ve been designing trace inlays in the style of old book covers to separate the chapters and I’ve found beautiful photographs and drawings in archives and in people’s own personal collections ready to be put together in my book,” says Kate. “This project has been a labour of love and finally it has all come together.”

Among the houses featured are Manor Heath, Castle Carr, High Sunderland, New Cragg House and Oakworth House.
