During May people are invited to come along and see two new exciting exhibitions at the Platform One Art Gallery at Todmorden Railway Station.
Platform One Gallery is hosting an exhibition of work by Janet Brear and Frank Brindle.
Both attend the Tuesday afternoon art group run by Todmorden Art Group, and Janet says this a great place to share the experience of working in a supportive and creative atmosphere.
“Beginners always welcome, we meet at 1pm, there is a small charge which includes a brew and a biscuit - essentials to keep the creativity flowing!” she said.
Janet presents an exhibition of work under the heading of “Loving Nature” in which she has used many and varied mediums in an attempt to recreate the beauty of animals and landscapes. She has employed a variety of techniques from realism to graphic representation embellishing the colours and patterns she see around her. When not painting or drawing she loves to make jewellery which will also be on display at the gallery.
Frank‘s exhibition is called “Familiar and strange” and includes photography, paintings and craft work. Frank is entranced and inspired by the strangeness that underlies the commonplace objects that we take for granted in our familiar world. On Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, the gallery is taking part in the first Todmorden Open Studio event. Janet and other artists including Mike Acton will be there to talk about their work and welcome you to the studios - a chance for people to see the wonderful work being created here in the town. Information will be available from the Todmorden Information Centre.
