Water Street Gallery, Todmorden, is running through the summer months its own answer to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition by showcasing a changing selection of work with a wide breadth of appeal in styles, media, scale and prices.

Owners Mike and Rosemary Holcroft, pictured, have build up a fine stable of 40 gallery artists and this changing exhibition will have featured 200 paintings, drawings and photography, 40 sculptures and a fine collection of studio glass and ceramics, not forgetting the extensive range of jewellery, by the time it closes after August 31.

The sound of the BBC shipping forecast may well greet you as you enter the gallery. Featured Todmorden sculptor Barry Midgley, is exhibiting his ‘Shipping Forecast’ work, and a dynamic bronze ‘Tornado’ work, with his hallmark vulnerable house in its path, alongside other bronze, stone and perspex works some of which tantalise the senses, frequently teetering on the edge of disaster.

The gallery is open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 9.30am to 5.30pm, and on Sundays from 11am to 3pm, or by appointment.
