The Artsmill Winter Fair, now under way, is a good mix of delightful, playful and some serene artwork which includes pottery, painting and sculpture.

The artwork of Joseph O’Reilly is exquisite and delicately painted, writes Dorothy Simister.

Painting that subtleness of white shades requires enormous skill and the picture gives such a lovely feeling of calmness.

Joseph sells his pictures to a gallery in London so it is particularly pleasing to see these on show at the gallery in Hebden Bridge.

Other people have commented on the high standard and how interesting the work on display is.

Lisa Slater’s horse automatons are fun and playful and very reasonably priced for the work put into them. Hours of skilful work have been put into the dainty careful paper cuts of Pippa Dyrlaga.

If you want to view this interesting show of art then call into the David Wright Gallery, Artsmill, Linden Road, Hebden Bridge, it is open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am till 4pm (closed Monday and Tuesday) or phone 01422 647072. Website: www.artsmill.org
