Band tunes up for a Christmas Festival

Halifax Concert Band will make its 12th annual return to Square Chapel arts centre, Halifax, on Saturday, December 3. The band's 45 musicians will present '˜A Christmas Festival', a programme of seasonal music and pieces from its recent repertoire.

The band will be led by musical director Chris Binns and highlights will include Douglas Wagner’s arrangement of ‘A Classic Christmas’, Nigel Hall’s arrangement of ‘In the Christmas Mood’ and Halifax Concert Band Ladies’ Choir will premiere ‘I Saw Three Ships’ in a new version by Chris Binns. The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets at £9.50/£7.50 are available on 01422 349422.

On Saturday, December 10, the band will again be in action at Stones Church, Ripponden, for a concert of Christmas music and recent band items.

Favourite pieces will include Irving Berlin’s ‘White Christmas’ as well as ‘Sleigh Ride’ and ‘A Christmas Festival’ and there will be the opportunity for the audience to join in carol-singing. The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets at £8/£6 and £20 for a family will be on the door.
