Funk, soul and jazz collide at a recently-re-opened hostelry in Todmorden later this month.

Saturday, March 21, sees a brand new band playing at a venue which has only recently re-awakened, when Bad Mood Bear play at The Woodpecker on the Rochdale Road in Todmorden.

Bad Mood Bear, who are Elly O’Grady on vocals, Angus Barclay on guitar and Sean Pattison on bass and percussion, describe their sound as a blend of classic and contemporary funk, soul and jazz songs.

All three members live in the Calder Valley, in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd, and have perfected their sound in rehearsals staged over the last year.

Their hard work has paid off in the form of some beautiful, soulful music.

Support is provided by T.S.A. who are Neil Munro on guitar and vocals and Keith Jafrate on sax, playing some classic sixties songs - but made over in a soul-jazz style.

The gig kicks off at 8pm and admission is free.

The Woodpecker reopened last November.

It’s at 222 Rochdale Road, where Shade becomes Gauxholme, about half a mile from Todmorden town centre.

For those arriving by public transport, buses 589 and 590 stop right outside.
