Dubbed ‘the bewitching queen of British soul’, Corinne Bailey Rae has confirmed the dates of her first UK tour for five years - and she opens in her hometown at Leeds Town Hall on Friday, October 28.

Tickets are now on sale for the concert which will see the Leeds singer performing numbers from her third studio album ‘The Heart Speaks in Whispers’.

Fans and critics have heaped superlatives on Corinne’s spellbinding performances over the summer.

She was at this year’s Glastonbury Festival and provided sensational support for Stevie Wonder at British Summer Time at London’s Hyde Park as part of his ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ extravaganza. She also took part in an arena tour with Lionel Ritchie and gave shows at this year’s V Festival, Cornbury Festival and across the US.

Corinne’s third studio album’ The Heart Speaks in Whispers’, her first collection of new material for six years, also received rave reviews across the board upon its release in May.

MOJO magazine hailed her resurgence as ‘a brilliant and very welcome return’ and Q Magazine praised her ‘sultriness and life-affirmation’.

Corinne’s nine-date tour concludes at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in November. Born in Leeds in 1979, she was named the number one predicted breakthrough act of 2006 in an annual BBC poll of music critics.

She released her debut album ‘Corinne Bailey Rae’ in February 2006, and became the fourth female British act in history to have her first album debut in the number one slot.

The doors open at 7pm on October 28 and tickets for the gig are on sale from the box office at Leeds Town Hall on 0113 376 0318 or online at www.leedstownhall.co.uk
