ON Sunday, April 22, Todmorden Choral Society and Todmorden Orchestra will join forces to perform their Spring Concert at Todmorden Town Hall (7.30pm).
The conductor will be Antony Brannick (pictured) and the soloists are Jacqueline White (sporano), Emily Reaves (mezzo), Oliver Marshall (tenor) and David Heathcote (bass). This year they will be joined by Cecelia Bruggemayer (double bass).
The programme will include the Maria Theresa Mass by Haydn, which should allow the choir and soloists to perform pieces of high drama and pathos.
Vaughan Williams’ Serenade To Music will be a reminder of the composer’s dedication to Sir Henry Wood on the occasion of his Jubilee in recognition of his services to music by R. Vaughan Williams.
There will be a setting of Psalm 24 by Mendelsshon and William Byrd’s “Sing Joyfully”.
This year will see an extra itejm of great interest in the Double Bass Concerto by Ditterdorf played by Cecelia Bruggemayer.
Tickets are available from Todmorden Information Centre and from members at £8 and £6.
