A new Calder Valley based record label has issued its first release.

The Hebden Bridge based The Happy Valley Collective has issued Love Is The Only Way, a four-track EP featuring songs by Martin McGroarty and Wally Woodcock around the themes of loss and renewal.

Proceeds from sales of the physical CD EP will go to the UK cancer care charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

The label, set up by three local musicians, has also been able to arrange a distribution deal with Caroline International Records - a subsidiary of music industry giant Universal - with the aim of releasing up to four records annually, featuring original, locally-produced, music.

Martin and Wally - he also plays with local legends Owter Zeds - along with multi-instrumentalist Steve Andrews, have a long history of writing and playing in the region.

Two of Hebden’s finest female vocalists - Terry Logan and Charlie Carr - are also featured on the recording.

CDs are £5 and can be bought via www.thehappyvalleycollective.co.uk, from Muse Music and the Love Cafe, Market Street, Hebden Bridge, and at the Coffee Station at Hebden Bridge Railway Station.

The album is also available for downloads and streaming from iTunes, Spotify and Caroline International, though proceeds from these sales cannot be passed on to the charity.
