Win tickets to see The Christians

They are renowned for an endless string of soulful yet socially aware hits including Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again, Harvest for the World, Whats in a Word, Hooverville, Words, Father, The Bottle and many more.

The Christians enjoyed huge acclaim in the late 80s and early 90s though people were often confused with their name (in fact it’s the brothers’ surname with no religious connotation).

The band is still headed by enigmatic lead singer Garry Christian who was described by the Daily Mirror as having “one of the finest voices in pop” and who has only gained in vocal stature (and wit) over the years.

And the brilliant news for the people of Calderdale, and Brighouse in particular is that The Christians - currently enjoying a revival - are touring successfully in the UK and Europe and arriving at the Ritz Ballroom on April 23. Tickets for this gig are £19 from 01484 720058 .

If you are feeling lucky, however, we’ve collaborated with The Christians and their management to offer four lucky readers the opportunity to win a pair of tickets in our free to enter competition. All you have to do is answer this question.

The Christians had a 1987 hit with a cover version of a 1976 Isley Brothers song. But what was its title?

(a) Harvest for the World

(b) Harvest for the Universe

(c) Harvest for the Galaxy

Once you have your answer put it on an email marked The Christians Competition along with a daytime telephone number and send it to tim.worsnop@jpress.co.uk

Only one entry per reader allowed. Entry closes at 5pm on Monday, April 18 and the four lucky winners will be informed on the following morning. Winners will be chosen at random draw and usual Johnston Press rules apply.
