The cast of this year’s Christmas show presented by the St Michael’s Players at Mytholmroyd are encouraging the audience to get into the swing of things by dressing for the occasion on the opening night.

They hope as many Tin Men, Cowardly Lions, Scarecrows, Wicked Witches and Dorothys as possible will join them when the curtain rises on the first night of the run.

Explains the company’s chairman Eric Alston: “If people come in fancy dress as Wizard of Oz characters they will all get the chance to have their photo taken with the cast and there will be a prize for best fancy dress.”

Eric hopes people will click their heels together and join Dorothy, Toto and their friends Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion as they travel down the Yellow Brick Road and beyond, aided by Glinda, to meet the Wizard of Oz and obtain their heart’s desires.

It features magical special effects, dazzling choreography and the classic songs everyone loves, including Over the Rainbow, If I Only Had a Brain/Heart/the Nerve, We’re Off to See the Wizard, and more.

Watch out for the Wicked Witch of the West and her Flying Monkeys in this fantastic musical treat for all the family.

Performances run from Wednesday, November 27, at 7.15pm to Sunday, December 1, with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.

Tickets are priced at £10 for an adult, £8 for a concession and £5 for a child.
