TODMORDEN Hippodrome opens its doors in three weeks for another season of plays, musicals, comedies, thrillers and a few surprises.

Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (TAODS) has revealed the programme for the coming year to the Todmorden News.

The season gets underway with Dangerous Obsession, a thriller about a successful couple who receive a strange visitor from their past.

Who is John Barrett and what does he want with the Driscolls?

Rehearsals are already underway and the play will open on Wednesday, October 5, and run until Saturday, October 8.

The focus turns from stage to foyer for a “Singing and Supper” evening of good food (pie and peas) and lively entertainment on Friday, October 14, and two evenings dedicated to the Voices of Todmorden competition on Friday, November 11, and Saturday, November 12.

The boys and girls in the Hippodrome Youth Theatre will then step up for the Christmas production which this year is Honk! The Musical.

The world-wide stage sensation is based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale of The Ugly Duckling but with an all-singing, all-dancing cast of feathered friends.

This is a show not to be missed and runs from Tuesday, November 29, until Saturday, December 3.

That takes the theatre into the new year.

Dates are still to be finalised for 2012, but the shows that will be dazzling audiences are set as:

Nobody’s Perfect – a feel-good comedy for February and the perfect antidote to those winter blues.

Sweet Charity - the much loved musical with big hits such as Big Spender and If My Friends Could See Me Now - hot-tails it from New York to Todmorden in April.

Stones in his Pockets – a play in which two actors take on 15 different parts with the help of hats, coats and a variety of voices.

Both hilarious and deeply moving, it’s a great way to bring the season to a close in June 2012.

Season tickets for 2011/2012 are still available. These entitle holders to see all five main stage productions for a discounted price.
