Battle of the sexes willcelebrate Shakespeare

All Souls' Amateur Operatic Society is marking Shakespeare's 400th anniversary with its production of '˜Kiss Me Kate' next week, based on the playwright's '˜The Taming of the Shrew'.

Amy Ellison plays Kate and Brian Harrison is Petruchio in the show at Halifax Playhouse from Tuesday, April 19 to Saturday, April 23.

The show is directed by Graham Weston with musical direction by Colin Akers. Graham said: “It’s a really fun show with lots of comedy and action - and some memorable music. It’s the first time any of us have done ‘Kiss Me Kate’. It’s been a real challenge but so rewarding.”

The cast also includes John Fisher and Trevor Roberts.

‘Kiss Me Kate’ is a departure from the society’s usual choice of productions - but hopes are high that the show will be a winner.

Shows are at 7.15pm plus matinee. Tel: 01924 502242.
